Are we so inured to violence that this doesn’t disturb.

I was watching Nat Geo this morning…quarter to twelve, lunchtime. I was shocked when, with no warning, a section of film showed an alive, but beaten and broken man thrown from a bridge by armed men to the crocodiles below and then being shot as he tried to struggle out of sight under the bridge…
Are we so inured to violence that a piece of film like that can be inserted into a nature programme, at that time of day when children are watching, without comment.
True the program was discussing man eating crocodiles but that particular piece made my blood run cold. I found it deeply disturbing.
